How do I set the right rate for recruiter messages?
You want to be accessible but filter out low quality approaches. We suggest you start at $50 if you're open to opportunities, $100+ if you're highly selective. You can adjust anytime based on volume and quality of inquiries. The goal is to filter out mass-blast recruiters while remaining accessible to those with relevant, high-quality roles (or other senders who believe you will see value in their message).
Will I miss good opportunities if I charge too much?
Good recruiters with relevant roles will pay your rate. They can afford $50-100 for a qualified candidate who actually responds. You're filtering out mass-blast recruiters who send 100+ messages per day, not serious recruiters with perfect-fit roles. If you're getting too few messages, you can always lower your rate.
Can I change my pricing?
Yes, you can change your rate anytime in settings. Changes apply immediately to new messages. There are no limits on how often you can adjust. Many users start at $50 and adjust based on message volume and quality.
Can I specify what types of roles I'm interested in?
Yes, use your bio on your PaidAttention.me personal profile and messaging page to specify role types, salary ranges, industries, and locations you're interested in. This helps recruiters self-select before messaging you. For example: "Open to Senior Product Manager roles in fintech, $180K+, remote or SF Bay Area." Clear criteria reduce irrelevant messages.
How quickly do I need to respond?
You have 7 days to respond. Most professionals respond within 24-48 hours to maintain good relationships with recruiters. The 7-day window gives you flexibility for busy weeks or when you need time to consider an opportunity. Faster responses generally lead to better recruiter relationships.
What if I don't want to respond to a recruiter message?
No obligation to respond. If you don't respond within 7 days, the recruiter gets automatically refunded. No penalties for you. This protects you from feeling obligated to respond to irrelevant opportunities. However, responding professionally (even to decline) helps maintain good relationships with recruiters.
How do I get paid?
When you respond within 7 days, payment is automatically transferred to your connected bank account via Stripe. Money arrives in 2-7 business days. You'll receive email confirmation for each transfer. First-time payouts may have a 4-24 hour security verification period.
Can I donate the fees to charity?
Yes! Many users donate their fees to maintain ethical positioning. You can set up automatic donations through your bank or donate quarterly. This maintains your reputation while still filtering for serious inquiries.
Do I need a LinkedIn profile?
Yes, a LinkedIn profile URL is required for all recipients. LinkedIn's large profile database is the primary mechanism by which recruiters and others identify you as a priority for outreach. PaidAttention.me enables them to efficiently connect with you.
Will a price filter be seen as unprofessional?
No - you're using price as a professional filter, not a paywall. Think of it like a consulting rate: it signals your value and filters for serious inquiries. The price actually helps the sender differentiate from the spam that increasingly dominates zero cost messaging systems like email. Many users donate fees to charity to maintain ethical positioning while still filtering spam.

How do I identify the individuals I want to message?
Search LinkedIn for professionals in your target role/industry. Look for PaidAttention.me profile links in their LinkedIn profiles (usually in headline or About section). We don't have a public directory - all discovery happens on LinkedIn. This ensures candidates maintain control over their professional presence.
How much does it cost to reach out to someone?
Each professional sets their own rate. You pay their rate plus 20% platform fee. For example: $50 rate = $60 total cost ($50 to candidate, $10 platform fee). For recruiters, this is significantly more cost-effective than LinkedIn InMail or other sourcing tools, with much higher response rates.
What makes a good message?
Be specific about the opportunity (role, salary, company), explain why you chose to contact them, include relevant details (location, team size, growth stage), and keep it professional. Recipients respond better to thoughtful, personalized messages that show you've reviewed their background. Avoid generic mass-blast language.
What if they don't respond to my message?
You get your message fee automatically refunded if they don't respond within 7 days. Only the platform fee (20%) is non-refundable as it covers transaction costs. This 7-day guarantee ensures you only pay for actual responses. Most professionals respond within 24-48 hours.
Can I continue the conversation after they respond?
The initial response happens through our platform. Ask the recipient to share their email address in their response, then continue the conversation externally. Most professionals include their email in their response if they're interested in learning more.

What should I charge for pitch/submission reviews?
VCs typically charge $100-200 for pitch reviews. Literary agents and A&R executives charge $50-150 for submissions. Price should reflect the time investment and filter for serious submissions. Yes, all payments are processed through Stripe, a leading payment processor used by millions of businesses. All transactions are encrypted and secure.
What currencies do you support?
We support 15 major currencies: USD, GBP, CAD, AUD, EUR, BRL, MXN, JPY, SGD, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, HKD, and NZD. Recipients can set their rates in any of these currencies, and senders pay in the recipient's chosen currency.
Is PaidAttention.me available worldwide?
Yes, our platform is available globally. However, payment processing availability may vary by country due to Stripe's supported regions. Check Stripe's country availability for specific payment support in your region.
